Aisles
For the safety of all guests, aisles must be kept clear at all times. Please follow the directions of the event staff assigned to your ticketed areas and refrain from standing in the aisles.
Alcohol Policy
Capital One Arena strives to present a family–friendly environment for every guest. Capital One Arena promotes responsible use of alcohol with the following polices:
Any guest who appears to be 40 years of age or younger will be required to provide appropriate proof of age with one of the following forms of identification:
- Valid United States Driver’s License
- Valid US State or Federal Government issued ID
- Valid US Passport and/or passport card
- US Military ID
- Valid Foreign Passport
Guests may not possess or purchase more than two (2) alcoholic beverages at a time.
All concession stands will discontinue serving alcohol at the start of the fourth quarter for Wizards games and start of the third period for Capitals games.
For non–sporting events, alcohol cut–off times will be determined by Capital One Arena management.
Alcohol of any kind may not be brought into or removed from the arena.
A person exhibiting visible signs of impairment will not be permitted into the arena.
Any guest who exhibits behavior that distracts or interferes with another guest’s enjoyment of the event may be removed from the arena.
Alcohol will not be served to any underage person or visibly impaired guest.
Alcohol beverage sales may be prohibited at the discretion of management.
Animals
Animals or pets of any kind are prohibited except for trained service animals. Service animals are welcome inside of the Capital One Arena and must always remain on a leash or harness. Please visit our Accessibility page for details.
Assistive Listening Devices
Capital One Arena offers assisted listening devices to guests free of charge. Receivers are available at Guest Services located at Section 102. A valid government–issued ID will be held until the device is returned. These devices are available for all games and events where the house sound system is used.
Automated Teller Machines (ATMs)
Capital One Bank ATMs are located at Section 119, 400, and 420 on the concourse.
Capital One Arena is now a cashless venue. Reverse ATMs are located next to Guest Services on the 100 and 400 level. This will allow fans to load cash onto a debit card valid for in-arena purchases.
Bags and Backpacks
Bags, backpacks and purses will not be permitted inside the Arena. Wallet-size clutches no larger than 5” x 7” and medical bags and parenting bags no larger than 14" x 14" x 6" will be permitted. All bags permitted are subject to security screening. If you are bringing a medical or parenting bag, please use the Capital One Cardholder Entrance on the corner of 6th and F Street.
Ball/Puck in Play Policy
Capital One Arena is committed to creating a safe and unobstructed view for fans during games. For the safety of all guests, while the game is in play during a hockey or basketball game, guests must wait at the top of the aisle, or bottom of stairs, until play has stopped to go to their seat. The portal ushers will let guests know when the puck/ball is in play. Guests refusing to comply with this rule may be ejected from the facility.
All guests are encouraged to remain physically distanced from other guests while waiting in the portals when the ball/puck is in play.
Please note: For guests to have an enjoyable experience while attending a basketball game, please wait at the top of the aisle, or bottom of stairs, until play has stopped to go to your seat.
Birthdays
Birthday Buttons are available during Capital and Wizards games at Guest Services locations across from Section 102 and Section 402.

Box Office
The Box Office is located at the F Street Entrance. Please visit our Box Office page for more information including hours of operation.
Camera Policy
Camera policies vary by event type.
For Capitals, Wizards, and Georgetown games: Guests are allowed to bring in point and shoot and SLR type cameras. Video recording is strictly prohibited, and video cameras, camcorders, Go Pros and Contour cameras are not allowed. Monopods, tripods and selfie sticks are also not allowed at Capital One Arena.
For concerts and other events: The camera policy for each event is determined by the event and is subject to change. Please contact Capital One Arena at 202-628-3200 ext.0 or check the event page on the website to learn what the camera policy is for your specific event. SLR type cameras, cameras with detachable lenses, professional style cameras or video cameras are not allowed for concerts. Video recording is strictly prohibited, and video cameras, camcorders, Go Pros and Contour cameras are not allowed. Monopods, tripods and selfie sticks are also NOT allowed at Capital One Arena.

Concessions
Contactless Pay
As part of a continued effort to improve the guest experience by increasing the speed of service, Capital One Arena is now a cashless venue. Credit cards, debit cards and contactless payment through smartphone apps will be the only form of payment that will be accepted at concessions, retail locations and vendors/hawkers. Using contactless payment is a fast, safe and secure way to pay. Reverse ATMs are located next to Guest Services on the 100 and 400 level. This will allow fans to load cash onto a debit card valid for in-arena purchases.
Credit Cards
Capital One Arena Box Office, concession stands, parking garage and retail locations accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit/debit cards. Special discounts at the concessions stands and Team Store may apply when you use your Capital One Credit Card.
Designated Driver Program
Guests who pledge not to drink alcoholic beverages during events may sign up at the Designated Driver Booth at section 108 to be entered for promotional give–a–ways and prizes. There is now a url link that guests can sign up.

Disturbances
All guests must always maintain reasonable and appropriate behavior during their visit. Guests who violate building policies, display disorderly conduct and/or create disturbances may be ejected from the event, barred from the building or arrested. Guests who are ejected, barred or arrested will not receive a refund or compensation for their loss. Please see our Security Policy for more information.

Doors
Generally, doors open one hour prior to the event start time. Please check the Event Calendar for more details on each event.
Dress Code
All guests are required to always wear a shirt and shoes for their own safety. Capital One Arena reserves the right to deny entry to guests wearing clothing displaying offensive text, content or images.
Drinking Fountains
Drinking fountains are located at Section 103, 113, 403, 413, 419, & 431.
Electronic Cigarettes
Electronic cigarettes are not permitted in the arena at any time.
Emergencies and Evacuations
Capital One Arena is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all our guests and staff. Emergency response procedures have been developed to address emergency situations that may arise in the building and in the surrounding areas that might alter arena operations. In the event of an emergency, please notify the nearest event staff member for assistance. All event staff are trained in emergency and evacuation procedures, in the event of an emergency or evacuation please follow the event staff directions.

In the event of an emergency, a message may be delivered to arena guests by calling 202–628–3200, ext. 7997. We do not have the ability to page guests during events. Please make sure you know the seating location for the guest you are seeking.

Entry Inspections
All guests are subject to search prior to entry. Staff will conduct visual and metal detection inspections to detect prohibited items to ensure the safety of all guests.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early to ensure timely entry into the arena.
Capital One Arena also recommends the following tips to help expedite entry into the venue:
- Open jackets and remove hats before walking through the magnetometer.
- Remove the following items from pockets – metal objects, keys, phones, electronic devices and cameras.
Escorts
Ticketed guests needing a wheelchair or special escort to their seats can request an escort upon arrival by speaking with any team member. View further information regarding our accessible seating services.
Exchanges
Capital One Arena has a policy of no exchanges or refunds for tickets to all events. Please visit the Box Office page for more information
Exit/Re–Entry
Exit/Re-Entry is allowed during Capitals, Wizards and Georgetown games once the event begins at our F St. entrance only. Exit/re-entry for guests attending concerts is not allowed. All guests that exit the facility after their original entry scan will be required to purchase a new ticket to re-enter the building during concerts.
Family Restrooms
Capital One Arena has Family Restrooms located across from Sections 113, 214, and 432.
Fan Texting Service
Capital One Arena utilizes an in–event texting service, allowing guests to text questions and concerns to building management and without having to leave their seat. Guests may text the keyword “MSE”, then a [space], then the issue and building location to 69050. Standard carrier text messaging and data charges may apply.
First Aid Locations
Capital One Arena has medical professionals on–site to assist with medical needs and emergencies. Guests in need of emergency medical attention should contact the nearest staff member for assistance. First Aid stations are located at Section 109 and Section 409.
Flyers/Handouts/Product Samples
The distribution of promotional items, flyers, printed materials or product samples is not permitted without written consent from Capital One Arena and/or its tenants.
Food and Beverages
Fans and patrons are not allowed to bring in outside food and beverages (including alcoholic beverages) for any games, concerts or events. Guests may bring in one empty plastic water bottle per person for their personal use. Guests with special dietary restrictions may contact the Guest Relations department via email or by calling 202–628-3200 prior to their visit for assistance. Gifts
Capital One Arena does not allow any wrapped gifts inside the building.

Guest Services Locations
Representatives are ready to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have at our two Guest Services locations in Capital One Arena. Please see our main Guest Services locations on the first level across from Section 102 or on the fourth level across from Section 402.
The team members at these locations are also able to assist with the following items:

Hotels
Capital One Arena is located in the Chinatown neighborhood in NW DC. Please visit our Hotels page for more information on hotels within a few blocks of the arena.
Impaired Guests
Capital One Arena reserves the right to deny entry to visibly impaired and/or intoxicated guests. Any guest causing a disturbance during the event will be asked to leave the facility and may be subject to bar notice and/or arrest.
Laptops and Tablets
Laptops and Tablets (i.e. iPads, TouchPads, etc.) are permitted inside Capital One Arena for all Capitals, Wizards, and Georgetown Hoyas games. For all other events, laptops, and tablets may not be allowed based on that specific event’s security protocols. In all situations, laptops and tablets may be used only as long as they do not cause a disturbance or block the view of other guests. Please note, the bag size limitation of 5"x7”, no backpacks and/or no hard sided briefcases does apply. During the security screening process, guests may be asked to turn on the device prior to entering the facility. For event specific information, please call 202-628-3200 ext. 0.
Lost Children
Lost children/individuals should be taken to the nearest Usher or Security Guard. If you become separated from your child or guests, please proceed to one of our Guest Services locations (across from Section 102 or Section 402) for further assistance.
Lost and Found
Please fill out this form if you believe you lost an item at a recent event.
During events, any found items should be turned into the Guest Services at section 102 or 402.
Guests who have lost their items while visiting Capital One Arena are encouraged to visit Guest Services at section 102 or 402 before the end of the event. After the event, all lost and found items will be taken into storage. Lost and found items will be held for 30 calendar days after the event.

Messages
All birthday and anniversary message requests are processed through the individual teams for that particular event. This service is not available during non–team events.
Metal Detection
All patrons are subject to search prior to entry at Capital One Arena. Capital One Arena utilizes walk–through metal detectors for all events.
Metro
We are located at the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro Stop on the Red, Yellow, and Green Metro Lines. To plan your trip, visit wmata.com.
Mobile Entry

National Anthem
Interested in singing the National Anthem before a game? Please contact Washington Capitals or Washington Wizards Game Entertainment Departments.
Noisemakers
Noisemakers may not interrupt the event and may not be permitted into the venue.
Nursing Mothers
Capital One Arena, in partnership with MedStar Health, has recently installed two Mamava Lactation pods which are located at the F-Street elevator landing across from sections 200 and 400, with our ADA accessible pod stationed on the 200 level. Mamava pods are designed with seating, outlets and additional features to provide privacy and comfort to nursing mothers during games, concerts, and events.
Baby changing stations can be found in all men’s, women’s and family restrooms.
Public Address Announcements
Please be attentive of public address announcements in the arena. In the event of an emergency, instructions may be transmitted over the public–address system, the video boards or directly by the event staff.
Painted Fans
Capital One Arena welcomes enthusiastic fans but must reserve the right to refuse admittance to any event if a guest has exposed, painted body parts or might cause damage or destruction to building, seats and or property.

Phone Charging Stations
You can find chargeFUZE portable phone charging kiosks throughout the arena that allow guests to rent a portable mobile power bank to be used anywhere in the arena and returned to any location on site. chargeFUZE power-banks are built in to include charging cables for iOS, Android, and other devices.

- Event Level- Caesar’s Sportsbook Lounge and Etihad Lounge
- 100 Level – Across from Section 102/103 (near Guest Services) & across from Section 115 (next to Planholder Hub)
- 200 level – Outside Section 202 across from Caesars Sportsbook & outside Section 220 (just outside Ultra Club)
- 300 Suite Level – Across from Suites 306 and 345
- 400 Level – Across from Section 403/404 (near Guest Services) and across from Section 423

- Gambling paraphernalia.
- Laser pointers.
- All luggage, roller bags, backpacks, hard-sided bags/briefcases, and purses. - Noisemakers such as can-operated air horns, sirens, kazoos, whistles (except Birdie personal safety alarms).
- Pets (other than service animals).

- Any other item deemed prohibited by Capital One Arena.
* Capital One Arena does allow one plastic empty water bottle per guest.

We reserve the right to confiscate any prohibited item found inside the arena. Please check the event page for any specific and/or additional prohibited items for your visit.
Capital One Arena will not check or store any prohibited item.
Pucks
Pucks that go into the seating areas during hockey games may be kept by the patron who catches the puck. Please note that while protective netting is put in place at each end of the rink, pucks may still go into the stands. The hockey pucks are made of 100% vulcanized rubber and are chilled. When these pucks go into the stands they can cause serious injuries, please stay alert at all times.
Raffle (50/50)
50/50 Raffles take place at select Capitals and Wizards games, giving fans a chance to win cash prizes while supporting Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation and its programs. View more information and past game winning numbers.
Recycling
We encourage our guests to place their cans and plastic bottles in the recycling bins stationed throughout the arena.

Security
Capital One Arena reserves the right to refuse items which may cause a danger or disruption to the event or to other guests, or which are in breach of building policies and/or the list of prohibited items. Any guest who declines to be searched or is in possession of prohibited items may be denied entry or ejected from the facility. Please also reference the Capital One Arena Code of Conduct.
Capital One Arena consults with local law enforcement agencies on a continual basis. Some of the security measures in place will be apparent to patrons and some will remain unseen and undisclosed.
Selfie Sticks
Selfie Sticks are NOT permitted inside Capital One Arena at any time.
Sensory Bags
Sensory bags containing special KCVIP badges, fidget tools, noise canceling headphones and other resources are available for checkout (at no cost by leaving an ID) at our Guest Services Booth located at Guest Services near Section 102, Guest Services near Section 402, on the Suites Level near Suite 341, on the Club level at 217. Sensory Inclusion
Capital One Arena has partnered with KultureCity to improve our ability to assist and accommodate guests with sensory needs. Our objective is to provide an inclusive and seamless experience for all guests for all events including those with sensory needs. We strive to raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with sensory processing disorders by supplying our Team Members with continuous training and by offering Sensory Bags (containing special KCVIP badges, fidget tools, noise canceling headphones and other resources). Service Animals
Service animals are permitted at Capital One Arena. Please see the Accessibility page for more information.
Signs, Banners, Posters, and Flag Policy
Unless otherwise specified by teams or event management, guests are welcome to bring small signs, posters and flags for events. Banners are not allowed.
The following guidelines apply:
- Item must be related to the event
- Item may not be attached to a stick/pole
- Item may not obstruct any sponsor/building signage
- Item may not be attached, hung, taped or draped over any part of the building
- Item may not be commercial in nature
- Item may not contain or display obscene/offensive language and/or pictures, as determined by Capital One Arena Management
- Item may not be constructed or displayed in a manner that may obstruct the view of other guests, interrupt the experience of other guests, or create a safety hazard
- Signs must be constructed of paper, fabric or poster board materials
- Signs may not be constructed of or contain plastic, wood, metal, glass or any material that can be used as a weapon
- Item may not be commercial or political in nature
Smoking
Capital One Arena is a smoke–free and vape-free facility. Guests who violate this policy may have materials confiscated or be subject to ejection. Smoking is permitted 25 feet from our building. Exit/re-entry is allowed during Capitals, Wizards and Georgetown games once the event begins at our F St. entrance. Exit/re-entry for guests attending concerts is not allowed. All guests that exit the facililty after their original entry scan will be required to purchase a new ticket to re-enter the building during concerts.
Standing Policy
Guests are allowed to stand during an event, provided they are only occupying the area in front of their ticketed seat and not disturbing guests around them. Standing in the aisles and/or on chairs is strictly prohibited.
Strollers
Strollers are permitted on the concourse and in our Executive Suites. Strollers are not allowed in the seating bowl and must be checked at Guest Services at Section 102 or 402.

Tailgating
Grilling, open flames, food preparation, and consumption of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited in the Lexus Garage at Capital One Arena.
Team Store
The Team Store is currently open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am to 5 pm. The entrance to the Team Store at Capital One Arena is on F Street adjacent to the Arena entrances. During Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards games, merchandise will be available to purchase at kiosks located in each of the dedicated neighborhoods on the concourse.

Umbrellas

Audio and Video recording is strictly prohibited at Capital One Arena. Video cameras, Go Pros, Contours, and any other type of audio or video recording devices are not permitted. Monopods, tripods, and selfie sticks are also not allowed into Capital One Arena.
Water Fountains
Drinking fountains are located at Section 103, 113, 403, 413, 419, & 431.
Wheelchairs
Ticketed guests needing a wheelchair or special escort to their seats can request an escort upon arrival by speaking with any team member. View further information regarding our accessible seating services.
Wi-Fi
Complimentary Wi–Fi is available to all guests at the Capital One Arena. Select the network “MSE–Fan Access” and accept the Terms and Conditions in your browser for seamless internet access inside the arena.
